Creating a Blog // Thriving in an Online Learning Environment
1. How was the process of creating the GMail account and setting up the Blog?
- The process of creating the gmail account was simple, however there were some problems with creating a blogger account, I had to switch browsers from Safari to Chrome and that seemed to solve the problem.
2. What do you expect to learn in this course?
- In this course I hope to gain a new appreciation for the visual arts. I can appreciate the beauty and aesthetic behind a painting, but I want to be able to describe in detail why I like a specific piece of art. I want to be able to answer questions like what movement this piece belonged to, maybe what emotion the artist is trying to convey etc.
3. How do you feel about taking an online course?
- This is my first college course that is completely online, I think this will be a new experience for me and I will definitely have to work on improving my time management skills for sure. I hope to also become better at navigating blackboard by taking an online course.
4. What three things in the Growth Mindset (from Step 3) videos do you believe most apply to you?
- Learning new things - Sometimes I am afraid to try new things or believe differently from what I know. But I also know that it is impossible to improve, change or adapt if one stays stuck in their old ways.
- This being my first year in college means that I really have to develop a plan and work on creating new habits to ensure my success. Allocating more time to study, becoming more well-rounded and applying myself and giving my best effort to what I am tasked with is so important to me.
- I think in some ways I show or have shown characteristics of a fixed-minded student. Things like not believing I can do things, thinking that my intelligence is "static" and that my destiny is already spilled out for me. This past year though I have been working on becoming more open minded and knowing that I am capable of many things that before I thought I would not able to accomplish.
