M3 - Project #1 Elements and Principles Slideshow

My Reflections and Thoughts

(2/14/2019)

This was a very interesting first project! I definitely had a fun time creating images, and finding images I took over the summer that fit the criteria of the descriptions. I did re-use one photo because I so strongly felt that it represented both unity and movement. At first I was worried I wouldn't be able to take photos that would fit the criteria, but I found that once I was outside taking photos I gained a momentum and I found it quite easy to find things in my surroundings. I brought a list with me of what I needed to capture or find, and I used previous student examples and a slideshow I found online to help me. Overall, I had a good time and I learned a lot about the elements and principles of art and photography.

Here's my slideshow! :

  1. Nice job on this project. I enjoyed looking through your slides. There was a nice variety of subjects and locations in the 14 photos. One of my favorites was the one taken in the botanical gardens(I think). I thought that the different shaded in this picture illustrated the idea of value very well. I also liked how you found an element in a simple household thing such as a heat vent. This is what I noticed about this project. It allowed me to see the elements of art in every day life. I see that you must have noticed the same thing. I also used water in my slideshow to show movement. The photo of the lake was a simple but perfect example. Well done!

  2. I really liked looking through your photographs, especially the one on the beach and Botanical Gardens. I was actually planning on using some of my photographs from the Botanical Gardens that I took during illumination, but ended up just taking some new ones. I always enjoy visiting the gardens because of the calm atmosphere and the great photos I can take.

  3. Nice job, interesting gallery. I like the contrast one a lot, looks like it's in black and white.
