Module 5 // Art Gallery Visit #1
Project #2: Art Gallery Visit #1
A.) Which artworks make an impact or impression on me? Why?
Going to the Art Gallery was a great experience and I had a great time looking at the artwork. While walking the halls of the museum I noticed that I was drawn to paintings with deep, dark colors that express sad emotions. I'm not sure why but that is what I was drawn to and that is what I took pictures of.
B.) Which artworks do I feel a connection with? Why?
With Henri Matisse's piece "La Musique" I did feel a connection with it on some level. The two women sitting with their guitars contently made me think of me and my sister spending time together. I really liked the painting so I decided to include it in the slideshow.
C.) Which artworks would I like to know more about? Why?
Some of the more abstract artworks, such as those of Joan Mitchell I would like to know more about. Not to sound ignorant, but I do not think I am educated enough to fully understand the meaning behind them. I find them aesthetically pleasing however, and would like to know more.
I liked your honesty about the abstract art pieces. I felt the same way about those works of art. They are visually appealing (some) but for me they are more difficult to connect with. I enjoyed reading your reasons for choosing the pieces you connected with. Time spent with your sister was a sweet reason to connect with "La Musique". Did you and your sister connect through music? I wonder if you were in a dark mood the day you visited the gallery. Maybe if you visit another time your choices of favorites could change based on your frame of mind. I liked that your blog posts were simple and quick comments on what you saw. It made me want to read it more. Good job.
ReplyDeleteDynamism of a Dog on a Leash by Giacomo Balla was also a piece that really stood out to me. I love how it shows movement and it's always been a piece that my grandma and I bond over. I really like how you related "La Musique" to you and your sister spending time together. That's such a sweet memory.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand the abstract works either, and to some degree they just attract my attention because of the aesthetics. The pumpkin statue and the dog on a leash were also among the works that caught my attention, I like how the artist chose to depict motion.
